"Surf and Performance"
Universidade Lusófona de Ciências e Tecnologias
The Universidade Lusófona, by the hands of Sandro Maximilian, a talented surfer sponsored by Rip Curl, brought together the cream of Portuguese surf as well as a range of experts in matters as important for a surf coach as applied psychology, body constitution, anti-doping etc.Subjects like Rescue Techniques in water scooters to support tow-in surfers, adapted surf for people with physical disabilities, proper warm-up´s before and after surfing, besides the experience of the Professor Sandro Maximilian who built a whole technique based on more than ten years of teaching how to surf make this course an added value even for those who are already certified to teach by surf courses organized by federations or have years of teaching experience at the beach.
Through the application of some criteria, 60 students were chosen, from the approximately 300 candidatures, to compose the two pioneer classes.
From this 60 surfers, North to South of Portugal, 3 are from Praia da Areia Branca, from DaSilva Surf Camp,Danny da Silva and from West Coast Surf Camp, Zé Oliveira and Gonçalo Folgado.
West Coast Surf Camp proudly have two members of his staff in these pioneering classes and so continues to follow its philosophy of constant demand for the best teaching techniques and the finest improvements that technology offers for surfboards and wetsuits.
